Happy was all over WNC and SC this past week. We were only home in Sapphire, from our last trip to Greenville, for two nights before loading up again and heading out. We left Friday afternoon to go to Asheville School to see Miles play baseball. It was cold, windy, and drizzly, so we should get parents of the year for staying the entire game. Miles played a new position at 3rd base. Both, he and the Blues, had a great game with a 5-3 win over Asheville HS. So glad we were there!
We left Asheville after the game and drove back to Brevard, where we spent the weekend camping at Hollywood, my friend Holly’s mountaintop property. One of our fave boondocking spots.
Saturday morning, Wiley, the puppies, and I went with Holly & her precious children to the Transylvania County Farmers Market. I had just told the children, the day before, about painted rocks. As luck would have it, we found one on Main St Brevard near Quotations and the Chamber. Hadley and Braden were excited. They now plan on painting and hiding their own. After the market, the whole crew came over to The Color Wheel Gallery to help me set up my jewelry display. It was a team effort. Thanks, everybody! I’m thrilled with the finished product.
After setting up at the gallery, Wiley and I took the puppies to Pisgah National Forest to an old favorite, Moore Cove Falls, for a hike. It was a warm beautiful spring day. We hiked to the falls, where Nigel made an off leash Golden Retriever friend. Pippa and I stayed on the observation landing with the great view of the falls. Nigel and Wiley went down to the creek and then behind the falls. All of us then went through the campsite, crossed the creek, and hiked to the little known second fall. We only saw one other hiker. This is my top secret local tip of the day. Enjoy two falls at Moore Cove, next time!
Holly’s sister and a friend, also joined us at Hollywood for the weekend. Saturday evening Hollywood was a bustle, complete with corn hole, glow in the dark bocci, and s’mores roasted over the fire pit after dinner. Great night!
Sunday, we had an Easter egg hunt and a lovely lunch with the Hollywood crowd, then headed to Greenville to spend Easter with Wiley’s family. Wiley’s sister, Debbie and our nieces, Sarah and Haley stopped for the night on their way to the SC coast from Indiana for spring break. We got our granddaughter, Bee and had a fabulous evening at the in-laws’. Bee hunted eggs and loved her Easter basket, we’d made her, complete with a Pigacorn. It was too cute! Dinner was fabulous, followed by a delicious bunny cake, that Bee said was hers, but was kind enough to share it with all of us. Loved seeing my sister-in-law and nieces and sharing a special time with the Wimberly clan. We boondocked in my in-laws driveway for the second time in one week. Worth all the driving for sure!
Monday, I spent with a dear old friend in Greenville, celebrating her happy new beginning, post divorce before heading home to Sapphire. It was a crazy busy few days with lots of travel, friends, and family, but I wouldn’t have changed a thing. Loved every minute!
